Emily Moody is a therapist and clinical social worker working with individuals, couples and families. Some of the issues that she helps clients work through include: anxiety, stress management, depression, communication difficulties, loss and challenges related to cancer. Emily also specializes in couples and families around issues related to parenting, intimacy, cross-cultural issues, separation/divorce, blended families and general relationship enhancement. Emily currently provides therapy as an affiliate therapist with several of the largest Employee Assistant Programs in North America.
Emily trained in couple and family therapy at the Marital and Family Clinic of the Jewish General Hospital (JGH) while obtaining her Masters of Social Work from McGill University. She has multiple years of experience providing therapy and support to patients in the departments of obstetrics, oncology as well as adult and child psychiatry at the JGH. She is currently in her final year pf advanced training in the Marital and Family Therapy (MFT) program of JGH. Emily was awarded the McGill Alumni Award for Clinical Excellence in 2010.
For those who are interested, Emily is able to combine her professional clinical experience as a therapist with her expertise in mindfulness and Eastern-based practices. Emily has worked for over 13 years in the field of the healing arts and has participated in professional training under the direction of Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, a leading figure in the development of mindfulness within the West. She is the author of the book Thai Yoga Therapy (Inner Traditions, 2006) and is a yoga teacher, a Thai yoga massage specialist and an Ayurvedic counsellor. Emily has taught yoga and Ayurvedic workshops at several internationally known yoga centers, including Kripalu, the Lotus Palm School and the Sivananda Yoga Center.
